tuition details…
Beth Carlisle - Primary Tuition
Primary Tuition in Maths – ages 5-13
Primary Tuition in English – ages 5-11
Having spent 17 years as a Primary School Teacher, Beth now solely dedicates her time to 1-2-1 Primary Tuition.
Beth builds a good rapport with each of her tutees.
As a result, they trust her techniques and enjoy learning.
Ambition - the importance of Primary Tuition
Primarily, Beth’s ambition comes from the desire to deliver 1-2-1 individual lessons for those children temporarily ‘lost’ in the classroom environment. Additionally, Beth is always looking to develop ambition in her students.
Beth originally graduated from Cardiff University with B.A.(Hons) Education with Psychology. She subsequently spent many years as a Primary School Teacher before becoming a full time Primary Tutor.
Experience
Beth Carlisle has a huge amount of experience. For instance, Beth was a member of the Senior Leadership Team at St. Peter's Primary School.
Over 17 years at St. Peter’s Primary School, she previously taught all subjects to all age groups. Along the way, she has undertaken various responsibilities:
- Firstly, as an Infant Department Leader
- Secondly, as a Member of Senior Leadership Team
- Thirdly, as a 1-2-1 In House Tutor for two schools
- Fourthly, as a DT Leader
- Additionally, as a Humanities Leader
- Finally, as an Assessment Leader for 5 schools

Remote Primary Tuition
During the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Beth has moved to delivering tutoring sessions over the internet using an interactive whiteboard app called ‘Explain Everything’.
Beth describes the process as follows… “It’s just like sharing a whiteboard in person. Both the student and the teacher can write and interact so your son/daughter will never feel like they are in a lecture. Additionally, it is a fully interactive experience. In fact, it is just as if the session was happening face-to-face or in the classroom.”
Students will need access to a stable internet connection and a pair of headphones or earbuds with a microphone. A touch screen device such as an iPad, Chromebook or tablet with a stylus would be useful but is not essential.

Beth is an absolutely amazing tutor, my son started with her in year 5 as he was struggling to keep up at school. Beth made a major difference to his understanding of maths and English which reflected in his school work and ultimately in his SATs results. He went from being predicted to under 100 to scoring well above that. I wish I had kept my son with her during year 7 & 8!!!!
We have attended Beth’s sessions since last september, preparing for the 11+. My daughter has grown in confidence thanks to Beth’s great approach, patience and encouragement. Despite the challenging times, we are still able to continue with her tuition with the same quality Beth provides but online. She finished her first virtual lesson beaming, ready for more! Thank you Beth!
“My son Harry has had his first on-line lesson with Beth this morning via the ‘Explain Everything’ App. We had a slight hitch with the headset not working as it should but this was swiftly overcome with a telephone call from Beth on hands-free. Harry gained confidence as the hour progressed and was happily changing pen colours and engaging with Beth via the app. A different way of learning but Beth was very well organised, very encouraging and Harry is looking forward to his next lesson. Thank-you Beth.”
