Jenny Evans - History Tuition

Jenny Evans is an exceptional teacher and tutor. For example, during her leadership of Notre Dame’s History department, Jenny helped put the department in the top 10% for History GCSE results in England and Wales.

Jenny Evans has been teaching History for 35 years in London and Plymouth. Moreover, she has 30 years’ experience as Head of Humanities / Head of History at two Plymouth schools: Tamar High School (a mixed grammar) and Notre Dame School.

Her History department at Notre Dame was praised for its students’ high attainment levels in successive OFSTED reports between 1995 and 2017. This was due to her results being significantly above national averages.

Jenny is vastly experienced

Alongside teaching History at A level, GCSE and KS3, Jenny Evans has taught English Language and Literature at GCSE and KS3. Additionally, she has taught Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), A level Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and A level General Studies. In addition to specialising in History and English, Jenny has taught a number of other subjects in the early years of her long and successful career. This reflects her ability to adapt and be flexible in meeting the varied needs of her students. She enjoys helping students because “it’s such a rewarding experience”.

Venue:
Tuition is at the tutor’s home in Ivybridge. Tuition via Zoom is also possible. Jenny may be willing to travel to a student’s home for a small additional fee to cover travel expenses.

Lee Howgate is a very highly qualified teacher and tutor. He has taught for many years in a range of schools and is passionate about History, especially Russian and British history. Lee therefore has a detailed knowledge of both, having also served as a British diplomat. First and foremost, Lee enjoys helping students to achieve their potential and to develop their own love of History. His unique experience makes him ideally suited to tutor History, Politics and English.

Lee Howgate has been a teacher since 1996, with 8 years as Head of English at RGS Worcester and Teign Schools and 3 years as an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Teaching and Learning at Saltash Community School. Lee has taught History GCSE, KS3, GCSE and A-level English, Politics A-level and additionally Geography and Media Studies. He is married to his wife Sarah (who also teaches) and he has two teenage children.
